I do not support the proposed consolidation of Ontario's conservation authorities. For decades, conservation authorities have played a vital role in watershed management. Lire davantage

This seems like a story about efficiency and cost savings, but at what cost? I am aware there are dozens of people within this area that are on the sunshine list, with most being in high population areas like Toronto. Lire davantage

I agree with HCA’s submission to the ERO. I am concerned about losing local decision-making and I support keeping conservation decisions rooted in our community. Lire davantage

Rolling up our local Dundas/Hamilton conservation area into a regional conservation authority would water down the protection it gets. Dundas has its own wildlife, ecosystem and challenges that need local knowledge and hands-on care. Lire davantage

Our local conservation area shouldn’t be swallowed up by a larger one. Local management means faster action, stronger accountability, and better protection for the wildlife that depends on it. Making it bigger doesn’t make it better — it just makes the care less personal and less effective.

Why HCA is is Not Supporting the Proposed Merger - and neither do I! The Province has not provided evidence showing why the merger is needed. Lire davantage

It is extremely important to Thunder Bay, Superior North and surrounding area that we are NOT “lumped” in with the GTA in any way shape or form. This is obvious to ANYONE who has visited both Ontario South and Ontario North. Lire davantage

I believe consolidating the CAs will result in less environmental protection and just cause chaos and bureaucracy. Please don't do that. Let them keep doing the excellent work they've been doing.

I don't agree with consolidation of the conservation authorities to such an extreme degree. If the provincial government wants to make changes consult with the conservation authorities and municipalities first. Lire davantage

Locally-based decision making and accountability is extremely important for Conservation. The reason for this amalgamation has not been justified, preserve the HCA!

I am a Dundasian. Through the idea of amalgamation of the conservation areas into 7 from the current set up we will lose the Hamilton Conservation Authority. Lire davantage

I am concerned about the proposed merger of Ontario’s 36 conservation authorities into 7 regional authorities. While improving efficiency and consistency is important, I believe this approach risks losing local watershed expertise, community input, and effective environmental stewardship. Lire davantage

The ever-expanding list of permits, approvals, studies, and surveys-many of them duplicating municipal or provincial processes-suggests that the Authority's regulatory reach has grown beyond its original mandate. Ontario is the only province with a Conservation Authority. We DO NOT need them.
