This is a terrible idea, and I do not support this. You make a lot of broad and derogatory statements in this proposal that are not substantiated by facts - "undermining conservation authorities’ ability to protect communities from floods and natural hazards"? What is your evidence? Read more

I do not support this in any way. There is a lot of broad and derogatory statements in this proposal that are not substantiated by facts - "undermining conservation authorities’ ability to protect communities from floods and natural hazards"? What is your evidence? Read more

I see the proposed consolidation of conservation authorities as yet another attack by the Ford government on the environment and the scientists who work to protect it. It is clearly designed to undermine local voices/knowledge and community control over their important watersheds and wetlands. Read more

This is a poorly thought out plan that will limit the efficacy of conservation authorities when it comes to reaching the people living in these watersheds and providing useful local information. Read more

I can't think of a government less qualified to comment of any portion of the operation of conservation authorities than the conservative government under Doug Ford. You've already slashed funding for flood management programs in half. Leave the professionals alone to do their job. Read more

The consolidation of Conservation Authorities is useful only if you are going to support them with increased funding and staff. The NBMCA does not control water levels on the 15 dams in its territory. Read more

This is a bad idea. Conservation authorities are the last line of defense in an already gutted development process. And they are not even pushing aggressive decarbonization or energy efficient codes. Read more

I think this is very unwise, to put it mildly. I cannot see how this will not result in already scant resources used for conservation in Ontario being stretched even thinner across such large swaths of land and sacrificing important operations of conservation authorities like education outreach. The plan to merger conservation authorities is not about protecting the environment. It is a plan to make it easier for developers. It is time we stop proceeding the development at all cost and start protecting the environment before it is too late. Read more

The consolidation of Ontario Conservation Authorities is unnecessary and will cause disruption and reduce the effectiveness of the CA staff. Conservation Authorities serve a critical role and should be left alone to carry out their important work.

I do not think that local conservation authorities should be consolidated into a smaller number. If data systems need to be upgraded, that can be done without such consolidation. I think we should value local expertise.
