Merging all conservation authorities into one giant organization would be a mistake. Each region has its own unique habitats, its own ecosystems, its own species at risk, and its own environmental pressures. Read more

If regional specific diversity needs and protection needs can still be met under a broader area conservation authority, I understand the need to consolidate for lack of front line employees in some smaller current conservation authorities. Read more

This amalgamation of the conservation authorities is a terrible idea. These areas were identified for a reason, each has its own set of unique environmental challenges which risk being lost in the amalgamation and promote further decline of our environments. Stop this madness. Read more

This seems like an incredibly misguided idea of a bureaucrat seeking a bonus or a meat headed minister or premier trying to 'cut red tape'. I am an environmental scientist and I have worked within the conservation authority system. Read more

A spread of agencies ensures that knowledge and on-the-ground work is localized. If conservation work is consolidated into sprawling ministries, this will inevitably dilute the work and leave many communities at risk. This proposal must be reconsidered.

I am unequivocally against this proposal to consolidate Ontario’s conservation authorities. The 36 conservation authorities in Ontario offer incredible services to surrounding communities, each unique to the specific watersheds they work so hard to protect. Read more

I don't agree with the degree of consolidation. It is heavy-handed and will negatively impact the ability of the conservation authorities to protect their watersheds. There is so much diversity between even adjacent watersheds, and so there is enormous strength in the current system. Read more
