There is more at stake than simply money. A healthy environment feeds us, houses us, and keeps us safe. In 10 years where do you want to be? In a climate disaster full of natural disasters? Why only think of money and fast tracking massive projects that will continue to damage our ecosystems. Read more

I strongly oppose Bill 5: the Protect Ontario by Unleashing Our Economy Act and its dangerous proposals, including the creation of Special Economic Zones, the weakening of Ontario’s endangered species protections, and the exemption of the Eagle’s Nest mine from an environmental review. Read more

This proposal is misleading and seeks to hinder necessary environmental protections for the sake of further capitalist growth. If this is not undone I will definitely not vote for conservatives, and actively remind others of this proposal come the next provincial elections.

The current approach to the protection and conservation of species at risk is complicated because it's vital to the survival of those endangered species, as well as to ourselves. Read more

This proposed bill is nothing short of the kiss of EXTINCTION for species across the province. The proposed ability of the government to override indigenous land rights is unconstitutional and the disregard for science is APPALLING. This bill CANNOT proceed

While I understand that an act like this may cause delays and cost money, I think these changes are not good. We have a responsibility to care for the land and protect all life on it. These are not the kind of corners to cut. By putting our ecosystems at risk we put all life at risk. Read more

I oppose the proposed changes in Bill 5. Eliminating the endangered species act to give unprecedented access to land development is not only immoral, it's a huge detriment to our survival as humans on this land. Read more

I don't believe that this bill supports the sustainability of endangered and threatened animals in our province, and should be further reviewed in partnership with environmental groups and indigenous peoples.

I have grave concerns about the destructive measures included in Bill 5, and it is safe to say that most provisions of Schedules 1, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8 of Bill 5 will do nothing to protect Ontario from U.S. threats of economic coercion and annexation. Read more

"Under the new registration system, proponents will be able to get projects started as soon as they have completed their online registration, provided they are following the rules in regulation. This eliminates the step of waiting for the ministry to review and approve permits. Read more

Bill 5 is a sneaky way of tossing the protection in place of endangered species, and I don't support it. This land needs to be protected for future generations. How much longer will we dismiss damaging fragile ecosystems and habitats to the detriment of humans for the sake of money? Read more

I’m concerned with the way this bill seeks to undermine the work of the ESA in favour of developers and the government desire to speed ahead with development projects. Read more
