While I support efforts to make housing easier and faster to build, I am very concerned that Bill 17 will make it harder for municipalities to make wise planning decisions, particularly with thoughtful and measured green development standards. Lire davantage

I understand that Bill 17 aims to streamline municipal planning applications made under the Planning Act and the City of Toronto Act, by establishing consistent engineering and planning study requirements. Lire davantage

Removing requirements for wind studies does not make sense. Anyone who has walked near Bloor-Yonge, or King-Bay in Toronto on a windy day, can talk not only about inordinate, unpleasant winds, but unsafe ones, blowing debris around, including into one's eyes. Its exceedingly unpleasant. Lire davantage

I strongly object to the passing of Bill 17. It will strip municipalities of too much of their power to plan and guide development in a way that puts their resident's best long term interests first. We agree on the need for more housing,. nd for the housing that exists to be more affordable. Lire davantage

I strongly oppose Bill 17 as it poses a significant threat to the future of our green infrastructure industry. If passed, this measure would dismantle essential safeguards, obstruct economic growth, and compromise environmental stability. Lire davantage

As a resident of Ontario, I am outraged by the fast tracking of Bill 17. This bill is being pushed through with no meaningful consultation, no transparency, and no respect for the people who live in the communities it will irreversibly impact. Lire davantage

The Ontario Urban Forest Council urges the Province to revise Bill 17 before it proceeds further. While we support the goal of increasing affordable housing, this legislation, as drafted, will severely weaken the tools municipalities use to protect and expand urban forests. Lire davantage

City residents deserve safe communities. Shadow studies, wind studies, and exterior lighting plans are necessary for both new and existing residents to get sunshine, walk outside comfortably, and feel secure at night. Stop micromanaging municipal governments!

I have many concerns about Bill 17. As a physician and a mother, I think this Bill needs to be heavily revised to promote a healthy future for Ontarians - one that maintains our high quality of life but also our clean air, water, and a safe climate. Lire davantage

The proposed changes to the Planning Act may lead to increased profits or faster construction - though that is still speculative and yet to be demonstrated through evidence. What it will not do is contribute to a livable urban areas. I live, work, and conduct research on urban history in Toronto. Lire davantage
