As an Ontario resident I strongly disapprove of the proposed removal of land from Wasaga Beach provincial park. Ontarians want more provincial park and conservation land to preserve habitat, protect the environment, and to make nature available to the public to enjoy. This proposal is a disgrace.

This is absolutely outrageous and unacceptable. Public lands are meant to be used by all, not be turned into profits for the very few.

Our Provincial Parks are an important part of Ontario. I’ve grown up admiring the parks and their natural beauty and the homes they provide to local wildlife. Protecting the ecosystem that will protect us is important and should be kept. As an Ontario resident? Lire davantage

As an avid camper who has enjoyed years of camping at many Ontario Parks, I am strongly opposed to this privatization of public lands for private profit. These are public parks for the public to enjoy. Furthermore, you are threatening vital habitat for an endangered species, the piping plover. Lire davantage

As a resident of Ontario and one who frequents provincial parks throughout the year, I am alarmed by this proposal to convert public lands, preserved for their natural wonder to private ownership to make a handful of people rich. Lire davantage

I do not support this bill and neither do many ontarians. We want to keep our parks and land protected. This will have terrible ecological consequences.

Wasaga Beach is a protected Park. We don't need the waterfront developed. More importantly, we don't want the waterfront developed. If such a plan is in place, do you not think that the people who live in the township should have a vote? Lire davantage

The provincial park should not be privatized as its a public regionally important shoreline, not just a parcel of land. Losing public control risks fragmentation of access to the resource that belongs to all Ontarians. Habitat and species will be at risk if development occurs. Lire davantage

By pushing this through under Bill 5, this will remove any accountability to the developers to ensure the environmental impact of their plans is taken into consideration. This is the largest freshwater beach in the world. Lire davantage

Ontario Parks, you know better than this. The Town of Wasaga Beach has never been interested in saving or protecting Piping Plover habitat. If you take nesting habitat out of provincial protection you are dooming half the breeding population in Ontario to fail. Lire davantage

I am opposed to these proposals. Ontario Parks has worked hard to create tourism in the wasabi beach area as well as fulfilling its duty to environmental protection. Dedicated staff over the years has poured their energy into their work and it should not be discarded but built upon. Lire davantage

This is a terrible idea. It is another example of how the government wants to remove environmental protections for the benefit of a few who want to make money. Lire davantage

I do not want Wasaga Beach sold. I am concerned about habitat for the piping plover and a viable future for This at risk bird. Also as a citizen of Ontario I enjoy this beach frequently and do not want to compromise access to others. Lire davantage

Thanks to the government of Ontario for taking the steps to release the park land to the town of Wasaga Beach. The town will take care of the beaches and this will help take Destination Wasaga to the next level. Lire davantage

Stop trying to destructively amend legislation that protects our ecosystems. Proposals like these will be costly beyond measure, and they do not serve Canadians or tourists.

I am very concerned about the increased development of Wasaga Beach. Bill 5 puts previously protected land and environments at risk. Provincial Parks need to be respected and honored as protected spaces. The endangered Piping Plover depends on these dunes and freshwater ecosystem to survive. Lire davantage
