I strongly urge the province to keep conservation authorities operating on a local basis. Conservation authorities are integral to their local communities and experts in their immediate areas and natural resources.

This is a wholly unnecessary waste of money designed to weaken Conservation Authorities oversight on our watersheds. Changing all of the conservation authorities is about making them less effective at their very purpose. Read more

The HCA already provides efficient, reliable service and protects our natural areas. It enhances our quality of life. It has long been supported by strong local partnerships. When it would be controlled by a large and remote agency, it would the local focus and efficiency.

Local authorities should retain power on local issues and resources. The current provincial government has consistently shown dedication only to development and their own retention of power, not conservation.
