This idea is not good. Sure bloat can be a bad thing. But these are seperate watersheds and the departments managing them know what they actually require. Reducing the number is only going to reduce the oversight of them resulting in damage to them. Read more

Overall, I am concerned about the consolidation of the multiple conservation authorities. I believe this change is happening too fast. More time is needed to engage with local conservation authorities and honour their perspectives. Read more

Part of this proposed area is part of the Haldimand treaty and is land that belongs to Six Nations. Six miles each side of the Grand River. Nothing can be done with these lands without appropriate consultation with the bands of Six Nations as per long standing treaty agreements. Read more

I have previously worked in a position which required me to that confirm permits being issued under my authority were not contrary to law, including the conservation authorities act. Land stewardship is very important and holds value. With ski trails, bike trails backcountry canpimg and hiking. The consolidation would make the process less valuable and would have little connection to what is actually happening in the area. Read more

I vehemently disagree with the government’s proposed changes to the Conservation Authorities Act. The proposed Lake Erie Regional Conservation Authority — covering 8 conservation authorities and 81 municipalities — is much too large to remain responsive and effective. Read more
