I am quite concerned with adding nutria and several fish species (which include pet fish species) as Prohibited under the Invasive Species Act. Lire davantage

What have the poor nutria done to deserve this? They are small, and I fail to see how they could endanger other species.

While I agree with banning the selling of live crayfish in grocery stores, since cooking them alive is cruel, please allow crayfish to be rescued and brought to a pet fish rescue. Please also allow the fish species and nutria to go to a captive animal rescue.

I would only be able to comment on the terrestrial plant - Tree of Heaven, which I would agree is a pernicious Invasive species. Regards, Keith Lockhart Ontario Vegetation Management Business Manager 440 Dorland Road Oakville ON L6J 6B1 Office: (647) 960-4181 ovmaoffice@gmail.com Lire davantage

Good day, I'm writing to express my support for the listing of the newly proposed plant species to be regulated under the Invasive Species Act. I lack the expertise to comment on organisms other than plants. Lire davantage

Note that white river crayfish (P. acutus) is also cultured and used for human consumption and therefore could very likely be included in frozen shipments. Note Species name for for Lousiana Red Crawfish is P.clarkii (not P. clarkia). Lire davantage

I am currently studying the interactions between the White River Crayfish, Procambarus acutus, and the small-mouthed salamander on Pelee Island. Related studies suggest that P. Lire davantage

I am writing to suggest that Flowering Rush (Butomus umbellatus) be moved to a 'prohibited' invasive species rather than only 'restricted' for Ontario. Lire davantage

Flowering rush should be listed as prohibited. We have seen substantial and rapidly increasing impacts on the Winnipeg River – and now it is becoming established in Lake of the Woods. Lire davantage

Flowering rush should be listed as a 'prohibited' species in the invasive species act. I have seen first hand during my work in the environmental field how detrimental the plant is in our area. It has invaded shorelines, entire bays and been transported from one body of water to another. Lire davantage

We are cottage owners on Gun Lake, Minaki, NW Ontario. And we are extremely disappointed with your decision to place Flowering Rush on the Restricted list. The fast spread and reach of this plant has become very obvious in just the last year. Lire davantage

I think flowering rush should be added to the "prohibited" list instead of simply "restricted". Lire davantage

Flowering rush should be considered a PROHIBITED Species. There has been widespread and significant invasion of shorelines on the Winnipeg river system. It is dangerous for loss of fish spawning grounds, displacement of native aquatic plants, and the clogging of the many natural beaches. Lire davantage

Please consider ‘flowering rush’ to be a Prohibited species, rather than Restricted. This species has spread rapidly in NW Ontario, clogging shorelines, shallows and beaches. Lire davantage

I strongly disagree with your plan to designate Flowering Rush as a restricted rather than an invasive species. My family has has a cottage on the Winnipeg River near Minaki Ontario since 1911. We love this land and the waterway and try very hard not to polute the land or waters in any way we can. Lire davantage

Deeply disappointed that flowering rush is not classified as a prohibited species. Our cottage since we bought 7 years ago has had the doubling of flowering rush in our bays and low water areas. Lire davantage

I am writing to express a serious concern about the classification of flowering rush as a "Restricted" species within the Ontario Invasive Species Act, as opposed to the more severe (and more accurate) category, "Prohibited." Lire davantage

Flowing rush for Northwest Ontario is not categorized appropriately. As an invasive species, it has for over 20 years completely overrun shore and shallow water areas. Natural aquatic plants and fish habitat are lost. Lire davantage

I am from Minaki Ontario and flowering rush is damaging our waterways. The situation is fluid and getting worse as the rush is propagating at a rapid rate. Our beaches are at risk as well as most rocky shores.
