Please do NOT proceed with this consolidation. The conservation authorities are fine the way they are. If anything, they can work on streamlining their jurisdictions amongst themselves. We need MORE authorities and less government interference.
Local oversight by local conservation authority infinitely more desirable than out-of-district oversight. . Expanding boundaries which negate/ignore local input detrimental. I disagree with consolidation.
Reduce the Size of the Proposed Region – The proposed Lake Erie Regional Conservation Authority — covering 8 conservation authorities and 81 municipalities — is much too large to remain responsive and effective.

I am vehemently opposed to this. There are too many differences in the environmental areas being amalgamated. Carolinian forests, two very different great lakes, inland regions vs coastal. Small CAs allow for expertise and specialization.

Large administrative boundaries could represent an issue when taking about technical decision making, also it could impact the time response frame regarding the enforcement of the environmental law, planning process, and community programs.
We are a massive country. Ontario is a massive province. I think the amalgamation of conservation authorities is misguided. My fear is it eliminates environmental checks and balances that come with local knowledge and awareness. It put our most valuable resources, soil and water at risk.

I have concerns with Bill 68. Please consider the wildlife and conservation areas' expertise being affected by this merge. Some species may go extinct and this bill will block the wisdom for rural landowners and farmers. Please reconsider.
We are facing an ecological crisis. This is undeniable. We need more people working on this, not fewer. We need more conservation authorities, not fewer. This consolidation idea is absurd on its face.

I am commenting on the Conservation Authority Amalgamation as proposed in ERO 025-1257. I do not agree with the proposal to consolidate Ontario’s 36 Conservation Authorities (CA, CAs) into 7 regional ones under the proposed Ontario Provincial Conservation Agency (OPCA).

Conservation Halton has been a valuable resource for the community. Protecting our parks and monitoring our watershed areas are crucial as we move into more unpredictable climate conditions.

With increased wild weather and climate change impacting our communities, now is the time to enhance conservation measures rather than consolidate or weaken conservation. Greenspace, waterways, wetlands and forests are increasingly important on the front lines of climate change.

Each of the current Conservation authorities have expertise and experience in their own local service areas.
To expect that the public would have the same level of service and expertise to continue under some sort of “consolidation “ plan would be highly unlikely.

Please leave our water shed issues and Boundaries to conservation authorities. Do not pass on this bill it could negatively impact society, increase risk of disasters, and negatively impact the environment.
