Another power grab by Doug Ford to help out his developer buddies.... completely undermining conservation authorities by you only having to go through 7 agencies instead of 36. How exactly is that helping the environment?

I support the Hamilton Conservation Authority's submission to the ERO. I am concerned that overly merging the conservation authorities will mean losing local information and relationships that help the CAs operate at their best to focus on local environmental issues. Lire davantage

After reading this proposal, it seems unwise, unlikely to lead to the stated desired outcomes and like to have bad results. It is not evidence based. Lire davantage

The proposed amalgamation is unnecessary. A unform permitting system could be implemented without combining conservation authorities. It is important for conservation authorities to be focused on and connected to their local communities. Lire davantage

Ridiculous. Limiting conservation authority is stupidity. Big government modern conservatism loves to make cuts to government programs that help and protect people. Don’t do this. Lire davantage

Stop this disastrous plan. It would impact the local municipalities the conservation authorities were created to protect. The r Lake Simcoe Protection Act, 2008, and the Lake Simcoe Protection Plan is already a comprehensive, watershed-specific plan grounded in decades of science and local work. Lire davantage

"To help get shovels in the ground faster." This is why Doug Ford wants to consolidate 36 conservation authorities into 7 regional bodies. The land, the water and the air is nothing more than something to consume and turn into a profit to this man and his supporters (aka buddies in crime). Lire davantage

The proposal puts my region (blue mountain) in with all the regions out to lake huron and out past lake simcoe on the other side. The environment and requirements of these areas are very different. Lire davantage

My local conversation authority is excellent. They are experts in our region and do region specific events/learning/messaging. I worry this will be lost, or deteriorated with this change. I believe the conversation authority is a valued part of the community.

This is so wrong-headed for many reasons. The most important of which is that how the environment is continually changing due to the ever escalating ravages of out climate emergency. The role of Conservation Authorities cannot be overstated. Lire davantage

Once again, it looks like everything north and west of Parry Sound, more than half the land mass of the province, has been made one vast Conservation area. Why not just call it what it is: the “Ring of Fire” Conservation area. Open for business. Please leave things as they are. Lire davantage
