Under the proposed model, decisions affecting our communities will be made by a board representing up to 80 municipalities, diluting accountability and transparency. Local knowledge is not just valuable, it’s essential. Lire davantage

We're facing overlapping crises in staggering biodiversity loss with extinction rates hundreds of times faster than natural rates, and a world breaching the essential 1.5 celsius warming cap under climate change, with Ontario currently set to miss our 2030 goals by megatons. Lire davantage

Speeding up building housing is useless if you live next to a natural hazard and have your housing ruined because you're within a flood plain / wetland, etc. we need our conservation authorities to understand local hazards and needs in order to find the right fit for housing locations. The proposed boundaries are unnecessarily large. For Huron Superior it makes no sense that Thunder Bay is in the same CA as the western shores of Lake Huron. I'm generally not opposed to the idea of amalgamations, especially where CA boundaries are comprised of many smaller watersheds (i.e. Lire davantage

I do not personally believe this will be a good change, local staff that know the areas they’re working with the best should keep their jobs instead of changing the number of regions and staff working them. Lire davantage

This proposed change will not speed up housing construction and will lead to the degradation of knowledge on floodplains and local hazards. This change will cause loss of life if implemented.

Let Conservation Authorities do their jobs. Sure the system isn’t perfect but cutting 36 local authorities down to 7 and letting some new provincial agency run by ‘political appointees’ is not the way to go about it. Local control and expertise is the better way deal with conservation. Lire davantage

This change to the number of conservation authorities will not produce the benefits touted by the proposal but rather reduce the amount of care and oversight made in decisions regarding development of wet lands and plains, which are crucial in Ontario's ecosystems. Lire davantage

Ontariens care about the environment and our future. We need to protect these vital ecosystems especially as climate crisis threatens their (and our) survival. Keep local authorities local. This would be extremely disappointing, hurtful, and potentially devastating. Lire davantage

Removing conservation authorities can/will introduce several concerns and risks. Cutting the authorities down to only seven does not provide adequate representation or coverage for certain areas of Ontario, especially those in northern and rural Ontario. Lire davantage

Conservation authorities need to be seperate and local in order to facilitate better scientific research on the needs of the people living in high risk areas. With a more centralized conservation authority this knowledge of the land is gone and will endanger people living in these high risk areas. Lire davantage

This is either unbelievably stupid and shortsighted, or it's corrupt and unbelievably stupid and shortsighted. I do wonder why Ford seems to hate his grandkids so much. Lire davantage

I disagree with this consolidation. Local knowledge is critically important. Our local watersheds are endangered by climate change andin a changing, dynamic, we need more expertise and attention, not less
