I oppose the changes to Wasaga Beach and urge you to protect Wasaga Beach’s provincial parkland and the surrounding environment. Development on conservation land poses significant risks, including habitat destruction, pollution, and disruption of natural ecosystems. Read more

I was extremely disappointed to learn that the Ontario government is proposing to divest itself of the area of Wasaga Beach that has in recent years been a nesting site of the endangered piping plover. Read more

PLEASE commit to protecting Wasaga Beach and the Piping Plovers that live there! Work with Birds Canada or other bird organizations so that they and their habitats can stay safe from things like mechanical raking dune alteration.

Wasaga beach is critical nesting habitat for endangered piping plovers, whose numbers have dwindled siginificantly in the east. In fact, very few nesting habitats actually remain along the great lakes, which makes preserving this prime habitat so valuable for them.

Hi there, I’m very concerned about the potential sale or transfer of land at Wasaga Beach Provincial Park. This area is home to Ontario’s last remaining nesting sites for endangered Piping Plovers. With only about 14 birds left in the province, losing this habitat would be devastating. Read more

Public parkland isn't for sale. Wasaga Beach is known to be the best nesting grounds for the Piping Plover, an endangered species of bird. Selling off land and allowing development in this area could endanger this species of bird, such as destroying its nesting grounds and habitats. Read more

I wholly disagree with the provice continuing to sell park areas to corporations. Especially in a time that conservation should be more of a concern. Additionally selling indiginous land to contunue to extract from it rather than allowing them to care for it is deplorable.

Hello, as a tourist of Ontario I can say with absolute confidence that I refuse to visit Wasaga’s beach if these changes are made. I care deeply about all of Ontario’s wildlife, and that includes the endangered piping plovers - in fact, knowing they live on this beach is a reason to visit. Read more

I am really worried that this proposal will threaten the Piping Plover, which is listed as an endangered species both federally and in Ontario. Wasaga Beach is one of the most important nesting sites for this species, if not the most important, in Ontario. Read more

Please, please, please keep Wasaga off limits to development! One of the most sacred and pristine places in our province—- must not bow to developers. There are MANY other places to let developers at em. Not Wasaga!!!!

This is a terrible proposal that will only make selling off our protected parks that much easier. With so few protected natural spaces left in the province, this proposal would only put more endangered species at risk, and cause greater biodiversity loss and habitat fragmentation. Read more

Critically Endangered Species like Piping Plovers have a history of nesting on Wasaga beach and other areas on the Great Lakes. Those beaches must be protected and not sold off to private investors. It’s a very important issue to thousands of Canadians. Read more

At a time where we need to be honouring the land in which we operate on every day in this province and country, we also need to honour and respect the individuals we are impacting. This time it’s the Piping Plovers. They matter. Read more

I do not support the land transfer. The land must stay as a protected environment for the piping plover bird who live there. Wasaga beach is the best habitat for them to live in and this should not be destroyed for more tourism. Read more

Seriously? There is no room for decisions that abuse our environment anymore. I will do all I can to ensure you’re not elected next election. The reckoning will come, and you will have been found wanting, Mr Ford. A capitulator. A worshipper of Mammon, god of money.

Please do not sell off our provincial parks! It is a terrible Trumpesque decision. As Ontarians, we care about protecting our green space and endangered species. Please represent your constituents and do the right thing!
