I am vehemently OPPOSED to the amalgamation of Ontario Conservation Authorities. Leave Niagara Peninsula Conservation Authority as it stands today. It is a trusted organization with local expertise - as are ALL conservation authorities province-wide. Read more

Having so far lived my entire life within the boundaries of the Grand River Conservation Authority I believe it is important to maintain the current boundaries that reflect each individual watershed. This allows for quicker responses in times of emergency such as spring flooding and ice jams. Read more

There is no reasonable justification for amalgamation of the existing Conservation Authorities into several mega-regional entitities. This will not provide any cost savings in the long run, and will inevitably lead to the loss of local input. Read more

Ontario is a diverse and giant region. By making such large areas fit into smaller boxes, it doesn't make sense and will spread the resources very thin. If the point is to conserve properly, there needs to be a reasonable area to have quality control. The system currently in place works well. Read more

I decline this proposal. As a resident of Algoma and lifetime user of the conservation property, I would be concerned that this land could be changed for use by people making decisions from the GTA with their bias naturally being there. Read more

I strongly urge the Ontario government NOT to consolidate the Conservation Authorities in Northern Ontario into one Mega authority. It is vital for the local people to have a voice and some local autonomy. Read more

Key factors of success are to ensure the local voices are heard, by having smaller conservation authority areas / more conservation authorities. If this proposal is because development is taking too long, how will one conservation authority with several areas speed up decision making? Read more

One thing that bothers me about this proposal is why are local conservation authourities becoming irrelavant at this time? The opening paragraph clearly states that it is meant to improve the time involved in issuing permits. Read more

We are absolutely opposed this proposal, ERO #025-1257. It would not be effective to our local authority. It would be as chaotic as all other major changes this provincial government has made. Control of our conservation areas must remain local as it already well managed. Read more

I am resubmitting my comment with minor edits. The earlier version can be deleted. Submitting comment as follows: The ‘one size fits all’ approach is simply wrong. As the late Hazel McCallion would say “do your homework folks”. I submit the following comments - Read more

As a resident of Sault Ste Marie, I would like to object to the proposal of amalgamating the conservation authorities. I believe we should maintain our existing structure to ensure we have local representation that reflects the concerns related to our local area. Read more

Conservations offer annual passes to access their park's amenities. With the consolidation of conversations, what is the government's plan to keep the annual passes affordable? Will it require the new conservation groups to maintain annual park pass fees and coverage areas? Read more

What do you see as key factors to support a successful transition and outcome of regional conservation authority consolidation? The most successful outcome would be to maintain control of local watersheds within local communities. Read more

I think this proposal is a bad idea. I want a local conservation authority to make decisions about conservation in my home town. I want the existing staff who are familiar with this region, to be making decisions that are best for my local area. Read more

We in Northern Ontario do not want our conservation authority to be amalgamated into larger groups, for many many reasons. Not only do we have different needs here in the North, we are already at a disadvantage compared to our Southern cities. Read more

Local conservation authorities are an integral part of Ontario communities. As a recent summer student at an Ontario conservation authority (CA), I was able to see firsthand the importance of these local organizations and the impactful work that they do. Read more

We agree with the HCA's submission to the ERO. We are very concerned about losing local decision making. We have observed first hand the implimentations of local ideas and suggestions which have added significantly to our HCA. Local is definitely better for all of Ontario!!!!!!!!
