The proposed changes to this law will create a tragic end to the endangered species we have in Ontario. This will fast track their deaths and move them to the extinct list. Read more

By allowing developers to proceed without process you cannot make informed decisions. This is especially pertinent in areas like the GTA where there is already so little habitat left. Read more

The government should NOT have the authority to delist/promote/demote species from the species at risk act. This is NOT right and the government has no qualifications nor the professional or scientific understanding of the delicate nature of species conservation. Ecologists will not stand for this!

We are in a biodiversity crisis and these proposed changes would only exacerbate that. Why on earth should development proceed before the environmental impacts are fully known? By the time critical habitats or species at risk present are identified it could be too late to protect them. Read more

These changes are gutting endangered species protections and are absolutely detrimental to the wildlife we should be trying to preserve. The new definition of habitat is far to narrow and will have negative impacts on not only the target species but all species within the ecosystem. Read more

We are in an environmental crisis. We are losing biodiversity at an alarming rate. Once a species is gone we cannot bring it back. The lose of an organism from any ecosystem is going to have huge impacts that we cannot entirely predict. Read more

Our Province is not just for developers. It is for the people that live here as well as for the species that live in and around us. Developers are in it just for the money and could care less if species exist. Read more

This is a despicable plan. I understand that because of the trade war with the USA, Canada and Ontario are trying to boost their own economy through development BUT THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE. We cannot eat money. We need clean air, clean water, healthy soils and biodiversity in order to survive. Read more

its unbelievable to use a trade war as cover to gut environmental regulations which are neither stringent nor a barrier to economic development. we must remember we are one of many species on this planet and we depend the function of ecosystems to survive. Read more

This is not the time to be fooling around with our climate. We are literally on the brink and making growth the priority is so short-sighted. I think it's time for this government to worry about something other than building on every square centimeter of this province. Protect what we have.

This is abhorrent, in a time where the younger generations are experiencing extreme weather events at an increasing rate, the older premier has chosen to strengthen short term priorities. Read more

So let me get this straight: you are proposing that “faster” transit/housing is worth the death of hundreds— if not thousands or tens of thousands— of living beings? Read more

I strongly oppose this proposal. This will have devastating impacts on our wildlife, ecology and climate. It is absolutely shameful that the Ford government is proposing this but not a surprise because profits for developers seem to be the only thing Ford cares about. Read more
