Being retired, and still very active I am constantly grateful for all the bike paths and trails in and around Toronto I am writing to whomever it may concern, that the proposal to shut down several high traffic, and likely in future, other essential routes, is short sighted and vindictive Lire davantage

I understand the frustration of drivers in Toronto as someone who has lived and driven here for 15 years. That tension exists because people want to be here. It’s a sign of life, of desirability. Lire davantage

If they build it they will come! Both for cars, and for bike lanes. If you maintain/build more car lanes, traffic and parking will only get worse. Lire davantage

This bill would allow the government to explicitly prioritize vehicular traffic over the safety of traffic, which will make roads more dangerous, for no proven benefit -- studies have shown the bike lanes do not increase traffic congestion. Lire davantage

I am against Bill 60 which would let the Province ban any reduction of motor vehicle lanes. The wording is so broad that it will not just impact bike lanes but also affect bus priority lanes, patios, school streets, and other street improvements that rely on reallocating space. Lire davantage

This is once again (just like Bill-212) more government overreach from the Province dictating cities to design streets and roads based on upside-down priorities. Lire davantage

Bike lanes reduce congestion by taking cars off the road. As someone who is both a motorist, and a cyclist, I am much more likely to ride a bike (and therefore ease some traffic congestion) with safe infrastructure. Lire davantage

Please do not also remove vehicle lanes for streetcars or busses either! E.g., on Bathrust. I work as a healthcare worker here, and with the construction of the new surgical tower, traffic is already bad. Do not reduce this to 1 lane. It will be impossible to drive and get to work. Lire davantage

Bike lanes are incredibly important for a dynamic, green, and equitable transportation system. We need to fund and implement more, not less.
