I do not support this bill, or any bill that seeks to restrict municipalities and their right to assess, study and plan for progressive and environmentally focused transportation-related infrastructure or that specifically targets existing and future planning for bike lanes. Lire davantage

Regarding the proposed Bill 60. There are many subjects within this bill that I am strongly opposed to however today I would like to comment on the subject of bicycle lanes and specifically the provinicial government's desire to meddle in the affairs of the municipal governments. Lire davantage

I have been struck by a parked car opening its doors without looking while trying to bike along City roadways. I have had my bike tire stuck in road transit infrastructure, nearly causing me to fall and sustain injury on City roadways. Lire davantage

The people who use bicycles as a mode of transportation are a) reducing gridlock by not driving, b) promoting positive environmental practices that reduce emissions, c) promoting healthy lifestyle choices by incorporating physical activity in their commutes, and d) saving space on packed streetcars Lire davantage

I am writing to express my deep concern and heartfelt plea against Bill 60, which proposes stripping municipalities of their authority to make evidence-based decisions about street design. Lire davantage

As a driver I’d rather give up a lane than to have to have bikes in a car lane with cars. Sharing the road is a lie to placate road users to the advantage of drivers but risking the lives of other vulnerable users.

Bike lanes serve the local people who live there. Allow the municipalities to serve their communities as they were elected to do - the province needs to keep their nose out of local issues. The cities don't build bike lanes unless the people who live there WANT them. Lire davantage

Hello, I am a resident of Toronto and I do not support Bill 60 for the following reasons: It strips cities of local authority and decision-making, even when projects are supported by evidence and local residents. Lire davantage

As both a driver and a cyclist I am concerned by this proposal. I do not see the need to make a blanket statement about how bike lanes should be implemented. It should be designed by city planners who have studies traffic flows and understand the broader impacts of the connected bike lanes. Lire davantage

Thank you for your mindfulness of all road users. I would like to express my strong disapproval of Bill 60's implications for bike lane reductions. An increase in active transportation infrastructure (like bike lanes) has been proven to reduce traffic by offering commuters alternatives to cars. Lire davantage

A bill that limits redistribution of roadways from vehicles to transit and active transit is counter to what we need - for health and safety, for the environment, for community vibrancy, for municipal road costs. Lire davantage

City biking needs to be encouraged to keep us seniors healthy! I’m a senior and notice that biking helps my arthritis in the knees, maintains my mental acuity and diminishes my loneliness as it’s a good excuse to invite a friend. Lire davantage

I 100% do not support this bill. Bike lanes encourage people to bike to work, school, activities, errands, etc. They encourage bike courriers. These ways of moving around decrease pollution. Lire davantage

Bill 60 strips away another tool municipalities have to make neighbourhoods safer and more efficient for all road users. Cyclists and pedestrians should be given priority. We are in a climate crisis. Prioritizing cars over bikes is short-sighted and negligent. Lire davantage

All of our cities are already predominantly car centric. Bicycle lanes are important for the safety of cyclists, drivers, and pedestrians. By removing/preventing the creation of new bike lanes you are creating a barrier for people who want to choose cycling as their mode of transportation. Lire davantage

Bill 60 rests on a flawed premise that dedicating all available road space to cars improves mobility. In practice, widening or preserving excess lanes often creates flow turbulence—more points of conflict, more signal phases, and longer cycle times that slow traffic for everyone. Lire davantage

Bill 60 is based on the mistaken belief that dedicating all road space to cars enhances mobility. In reality, widening roads or retaining unnecessary lanes often causes flow turbulence—more conflict points, extra signal phases, and longer light cycles that slow traffic overall. Lire davantage

I do not think this is a good proposal. The main reason is that this kind of planning should remain at the municipal level. Lire davantage
