I am very concerned about the changes proposed by the Ontario government to the Conservation Authorities. It seems clear from all I have heard from others and the studies that have been done, that there is no significant savings from amalgamation.

Amalgamating the conservation authorities will allow for less protection of Ontario's important biomes. This is a move in the wrong direction and will lead to another incident such as Walkerton. It will harm local species. I urge Mr. Doug Ford to reconsider his decision.
Hello, as a resident of Ontario I have great concerns over this proposal. I believe moving forward with this decision will be a detriment to these areas and make it more difficult for the government to manage the conservation of our lands.

I am writing to express my serious concerns about the proposal to restructure Ontario’s current Conservation Authority framework into 7 larger regions. I do not feel the Province has provided just reason for this proposal nor is the use of political appointees responsible governance.

I am extremely concerned about the proposed idea to amalgamate the conservation agencies. In particular, I am very concerned that the amalgatation would severely impact the authority's ability to comment on flooding risks and other natural hazards for permit applications.

I do not agree with the consolidation of conservation authorities. They should be kept as is to allow for local knowledge to keep areas safe from climate change.
Our land, waterways, and environment decisions should not be made from 300 km away. These decisions should be made by the people that live here, understand the landscape and our region. Local expertise for local decisions.

This is nonsense clearly designed to sacrifice our vital natural environment for whoever can profit most from destroying it. If this was a good faith attempt to better enhance coordination between authorities, then yea. But this is not why this is happening.
This is an atrocious change that will hamstring the ability of conservation authorities to respond to issues and execute their mandates.

I personally feel this is a horrible idea. Each region covered by one of the 36 different Conservation Authorities has its own problems and issues it needs to manage.

Do not do this. Each regions conservation authority knows best how to manage and address the needs of its area. Consolidation for the sake of expediency or efficiencies will hurt the ability for acute regional needs to be met.
Conservation authorities were established as a direct response to flooding and erosion. Decision makers recognized the importance of ensuring conservation authorities were led by local voices and embodied local needs.

If the key issue that the province is attempting to address is a lack of consistency in regulations and enforcement, and the proposed solution includes a consolidated ruleset that all of the new entities must follow, why are the merges necessary?
