As a fluvial geomorphologist working in Ontario, my work is constantly within the jurisdiction of a Conservation Authority, and to say amalgamation will improve consistency simply shows a lack of familiarity with the CAs ORegs as more often than not, they're identical aside from names changes. As a paid member at different times to the TRCA, CVC, and GRCA, the idea of merging these conservation authorities perplexes me. Each knows their own are incredibly well, are active in local communities and have different focuses - according to the needs of their own areas. Lire davantage

Yet another way Doug Ford is going to ruin our province. Are there any adults with functioning brains and hearts that care in our provincial parliament? It sure doesn't seem so. Shame on whoever brought this idea forth, and shame on all of those who haven't shut it down yet. Embarrassing.

Conservation authorities were established in direct response to flooding and erosion, and their value is evident. Decision-makers recognized early on that conservation authorities should be rooted in the regions they serve. Lire davantage

As a resident of Hamilton who spends a great deal of time hiking the amazing trails here, I see great value in maintaining and enhancing the status quo of having 36 localized conservation authorities customized to the unique communities they serve. Lire davantage

If 36 conservation authorities are so important to the conservation of said areas then how can it be expected that without a significant increase in budget and other operating costs, that a similar amount of attention will be paid to the said conservation of these areas. Lire davantage

I am extremely concerned by the proposed amalgamation of the Ontario conservation authorities. Ontario includes countless unique ecological features, such as sand dunes, rock shield, lowlands and some of the world’s best farmland. I urge the Government of Ontario to reconsider this proposal. I strongly oppose the amalgamation of the conservation authorities current under consideration. I understand and respect that financial constraints make it difficult to continue supporting the mandate of conservation, but the cost of foregoing that support is much higher than a dollar value. This cannot happen. The erasure of local expertise is detrimental to our environment. Reduction of conservation authorities will reduce jobs, resources, and investments.

Ontario is a large province, larger than many countries. The geography varies significantly across locations -- not only do we have three different physiographic regions, we also have substantial differences in population density in different parts of the province. Lire davantage

This combining of agencies will leave many gaps in the application process due to a lack of resources, thus allowing many more environmental issues to arise. I do not support this change. Lire davantage

Ontario’s 36 conservation authorities play a vital role in watershed management and protecting communities from natural hazards like floods. As a member of the insurance community, I beg you to NOT pass this bill! Flooding in Ontario is at an all time high. Lire davantage

This appears to be a very short sighted decision. Doug ford is not representing the best interests of the people who voted for him. Do not do this. It will take generations to fix this if implemented. Do not do this Lire davantage

This proposed idea is a terrible idea and completely unnecessary. Conservation Authorities provide efficient and valuable service as is and only stand to suffer from this change, as do all residents of Ontario. Lire davantage

I live right near credit valley conservation. How can we ensure that the same care will be provided to the environment via this large overseeing body instead of the individual ones? I’ve benefited a lot from the conservation authority, and frequent conservation areas. Lire davantage

I work in the field of civil engineering development and this change with make it even tougher to deal with the CA’s. What they need is better funding and more staffing to review projects and get back to us faster. Lire davantage
