Here you go again Doug Ford, limiting the affect of an institution that was created 80 years ago by an Ontario Conservative government, to counter-act flooding and protect our disappearing wetlands, just so your wealthy buddies can build more monstrous houses and highways. Read more

Not that this government seems to care a wit about our environment, or anything adjacent to it like conservation regulations and authorities, but it is yet just one more way in which Doug Ford is authoritatively forcing through projects to serve his donor class of developers, builders. Read more

Consolidating the current number of Conservation areas into much fewer numbers will not address the concerns put forth in the proposed legislation. Like so many other government cuts to public service, fewer means less oversight, not more. Read more

Please keep your hands off anything to do with conservation. You have no respect for the environment, indigenous rights, or municipalities. Your cuts to forest fire fighting meant I spent more time inside this summer, thanks to smoke in the air, which aggravated my asthma. Read more

Stop trying to destroy what has been built and proven to work so that you can more easily help your developer friends. Stop sacrificing Ontario's future for your greed. You may never have to suffer the consequences of your actions, but we will still hold you accountable for it. Read more

I remember what happened during Hurricane Hazel. Have you forgotten this part of Toronto's history? Those who do not study history are doomed to repeat it. Our Conservation Authorities were set up after the devastating deadly floods caused by Hurricane Hazel. Read more

The premise that "unpredictable and inconsistent turnaround times for approvals across all conservation authorities, creating uncertainty and delays for builders, landowners and farmers seeking permits" is a *bad* thing is fundamentally false. Nature and conservation is not predictable. Read more

I am against this consolidation. Every authority oversees a different kind of environment, even if they seem nearby on a map. Water moves differently through varying landscapes and development rates, and the potential effects of flooding on the environment also vary based on geography. Read more

As a 65 year old Ontario-born resident I strongly reject the proposal tabled here, on the grounds that it represents a cynical attempt to consolidate power under the provincial government rather than improve the delivery of environmental services to the people of Ontario. Read more

As a resident of Thunder Bay, which falls within the Lakehead Regional Conservation Authority, I am deeply concerned over the proposed changes to Ontario‘s conservation authorities boundaries. Read more

I think this is the worst idea. Ford's government will go down in history as doing the absolute worst damage ever to the environment. It's almost as though he doesn't care about future generations at all and is only in for it for as much money as he can get. I am ashamed.

As a member of the Indigenous community, I think consolidation is ill advised. Your track record for « eliminating inefficiencies and cutting costs » show that, on both counts, you have failed. Read more

The consolidation of Conservation Authorities seems to be proceeding without consultation with affected municipalities and personnel currently front-line or otherwise about improvements proposed. Read more

Although streamlining the conservation authorities to save $ and speed up deliberations and decisions is basically a good idea combining regions that have significantly different geology, geography and natural habitats eg. Lake Simcoe and Nottawasaga is not wise. Read more

I do not believe the changes with improve the current system. I believe jobs will be lost or people will be demoted. Also, there will be less focus on water ways and /or ecosystems as staff will have a much larger area to look after. Read more
