This is devastating and unacceptable, selling natural land to a developer? Truly goes against the culture and needs of Canadians.

I strongly oppose the Ontario government’s proposal to amend the Provincial Parks and Conservation and Historical Parks Act to support the Town of Wasaga Beach’s Tourism Proposal, which would remove nearly one-third (645 acres) of protected parkland for private development. Lire davantage

Provincial parks are protected places that belong to the people of Ontario. We should be expanding the number and size of provincial parks, not reducing them and selling them off to developers. Lire davantage

The beaches need to be kept in provincial hands. A look at recent history with the municipal government is whatever developer pays them the most is what way they will sway without public input. Lire davantage

It is astoundingly preposterous to even consider selling off public, preserved provincial park lands. That this present government would even suggest this is a travesty against Ontarians, and against the tradition of land preservation that we hold dear. Our parks should never be for sale. It’s inhumane and unjust to the people and the land we live on. We should always strive to protect and conserve the land we are so lucky to witness.

I do not agree with this plan. This is just another power grab by the Ford government and an assault on wildlife. The Piping Plover nest in wasaga beach and has been protected by caring citizens since 2007. Lire davantage

No to this. Your proposal will have a huge impact on the endangered Piping Plover's habitat and all the years of conservation efforts put toward maintaining and enhancing that. Ontario needs its natural areas and protection for them more now than ever. Lire davantage

Wasaga Beach Provincial Park is one of the last remaining nesting grounds for the endangered Pipping Plover in Ontario. These tiny shorebirds have made a fragile comeback since 2007, thanks to years of careful stewardship and protection. Lire davantage

I have been visiting Wasaga Beach since I was 15 years old. I’m now 52. I always loved the nostalgia of the beach and vendors on the boardwalk. The road through the beach area is classic and I have strong memories of finding parking for $5/day near the beach at either end of that road. Lire davantage

Please do not build houses on bird and animal habitat (Wasaga Beach), especially for birds such as the piping plover, who have been on the decline until people worked to make changes. Thank you for listening. Joan Lire davantage

The chunks of Wasaga Beach Provincial park that you want to sell to developers are one of the last remaining nesting grounds for the endangered Piping Plover in Ontario. Losing critical nesting habitat, the Piping Plover could be lost forever if this goes through. Lire davantage
