The move to amalgamate conservation authorities in Ontario for "efficiency" is both short-sighted and philosophically wrong. As a senior citizen with scientific degrees in both biology and physical geography, I have understood for decades that the fundamental unit of ecology is the watershed.

I do not support Doug Ford's new proposal for the amalgamation of the NPCA. We manage it well now. We know the area and it's needs. You don't.
The proposed plan will not improve the area. It will create problems.

As a professional geoscientist who often goes to bat with CAs in Ontario regarding development setbacks, hazard lands, variances, etc. I staunchly oppose the amalgamation of these important regulatory bodies.

I do not agree with this proposal to consolidate the conservation authorities. Instead, I agree with HCA’s submission to the ERO. The HCA is doing a tremendous job and there is no evidence that a merger is necessary.
Please listen to the Conservation Authorities!! Furthermore, before proposing new boundaries, conservation authorities and municipalities should have been consulted about this proposed consolidation.

Council of the Township of Dorion passed a resolution, at their regular meeting held on December 2, 2025, calling on the Government of Ontario to maintain local, independent, municipally governed, water-shed conservation authorities.

This government needs to understand why we have these conservation authorities. In 1954 Hurricane Hazel devastated Toronto and areas north of here. People had built housing too close to the waterways and the extreme flooding caused loss of life and property.

The proposed changes are unnecessary and will lead to burdening the tax payer with costs associated with creating new conservation authorities while also reducing protections at a local level.

I live within the Lower Trent Conservation Authority area. I have read the proposal to consolidate the areas into 7 large regional areas . I oppose this for many reasons.

I do not want Ford making any decisions that impact the Niagara Region ! Lumping us in with bigger cities is unfair . Wages in our region are lower and the impact of increased taxes etc on the Niagara Region will negatively impact residents who live in the Niagara Region !
Respectfully, I think Niagara would fit better with Norfolk County down to Long Point and not with the larger densely populated areas at the west end of Lake Ontario.
Yes, consolidating would be a good thing to reduce of administrative for the greater region.
Less administrative staff will save a lot of money. As long as this gets passed down to the taxpayers. And developers.

I think that this is not a good direction for this province, the Hamilton and Dundas conservation authority have done so much good for our community and there just wont be the same local connection to what's going on.

I am strongly opposed to Ontario’s proposal to consolidate its Conservation Authorities into a small number of regional entities, as outlined in Environmental Registry of Ontario Notice ERO 025-1257.

I am writing to express my serious concerns about the proposal to restructure Ontario’s current Conservation Authority framework into 7 larger regions. I do not feel the Province has provided just reason for this proposal nor is the use of political appointees responsible governance.

I am opposed to the idea of amalgamating a number of conservation areas. The watersheds across Ontario are comprised of multiple different geographies, hazards and environmental considerations.

Leave the Conservation authority as is. The checks and balances are in place to protect our watersheds and flora and fauna. Also wildlife and native trees … it has no place to be backfilled, redirected or worse damaged and/ or sold to the highest bidder.
