Narrowing the conservation authorities seems like an awful idea because it lacks strategic foresight. There are multiple types of natural landscapes, farmlands and wildlife that require oversight and more attention, not less. Lire davantage

The 36 conservation authorities are greatly needed. They have expertise in their regions that supports better wildlife, watershed and forestry management. This local expertise is vital to protecting Ontario's watersheds, and extant and at risk species (both animals and plants). Lire davantage

Conservation Authorities are not a fragmented system, but rather specialized service providers tailored to their specific Watersheds. Consolidation will lose the local expertise on communities that rely on them the most. Lire davantage

I have what is perhaps a unique perspective on the validity and utility of having Conservation Authorities based upon watershed boundaries and NOT on the basis of contiguous and regional links, by way of having acted in a consulting engineering capacity for numerous Conservation Authorities over the Lire davantage

I do not support this for the following reasons: • It strips away local knowledge that is vital to understanding each region’s watersheds, floodplains and ecological risks. Lire davantage

Do not do this. Big mistake. Environment matters over cost savings. Find new ways to generate revenue to support and keep the authorities as they are. Thank you!

Maintaining smaller (non-amalgamated) conservation authorities is important because each authority has deep local knowledge of their ecosystems, communities, and environmental challenges, which allows them to respond more effectively and quickly than large, centralized bodies. Lire davantage

I do not believe that merging Ontarios conservation authorities into smaller sections will benefit the wellbeing of Ontarios nature and it’s citizens. Our conservative provincial government has shown that conservation and the environment are low, even non existent on his priority list. Lire davantage

I do not support consolidating 36 conservation authorities into 7 conservation authorities. Local expertise and knowledge is very important for sound decision making. Having 36 conservation authorities allows for strong local representation and engagement. Lire davantage

I am concerned amalgamation could reduce local decision-making and weaken long-standing community and volunteer partnerships. These areas are too large and too diverse to expect proper effective stewardship and governance from a non-local operating team. Lire davantage

I strongly oppose the proposed changes to Ontario’s Conservation Authorities. These organizations work because they are local and watershed-based. Lire davantage

I have serious concerns about this proposed amalgamation, starting with the fact that the Bill that enabled this proposed restructuring was pushed through without any consultation. That is not democracy. Furthermore, the provided information states: Lire davantage

Regionalization of non-profit, provincially-funded organizations typically doors not work. Look what happened to the District Health Councils in Ontario. Lire davantage

I am writing to express my strong opposition to the provincial proposal to consolidate Ontario’s 36 Conservation Authorities (CAs) into seven regional bodies. This plan is fundamentally flawed for the following reasons: Lire davantage

I do not think that the amalgamation of the province's many conservation authorities into less than 10 authorities is the best way to ensure that local voices are represented and all natural areas are protected/ the mandates of conservation authorities are met. Lire davantage
