This is a very bad idea. Again rural areas will be swallowed by urban interests . Does government not understand rural? Farmers feed cities. CA’s help people, farmers , give them guidance, plant trees. The CA’s work hard in our communities. The funding for the CA’s come from our communities.

I reside in Thunder Bay, ON which is located in northwestern Ontario. We are currently under the management of the Lakehead Region Conservation Authority (LRCA). If successful, this downsizing operation will amalgamate my regions management in with southern Ontario's. This is a huge mistake.

This is such a bad idea….there will be a loss of expertise, a lack of accountability and of course, it will be a way to steal away precious farm land. Making the regions so broad invites scenarios that do damage and not as many may notice or protest what is happening.

Smaller local conservation authorities are necessary to ensure adequate knowledge of floodplains and watersheds remains easily accessible and relevant instead of the need to reach out to an office that may not be close in location or aware of local issues.

I am writing this comment to call on the Government of Ontario to retain the 36 conservation authorities currently serving Ontario and its residents.

Please do not change the conservation authorities. We will lose valuable local knowledge for these regions, it is not in the interest of people living in Ontario, nor is it in the interest of nature (which we are a part of).
This is an awful idea. I would like to see this government taking action to protect the environment, not dismantle the systems in place to protect it to pave the way for development. What will be left for our children!? I

People who live in the communities and on the land are best able to steward the protections of their environments. Consolidating power with those who have little “skin in the game” puts those that rely on their local resources in jeopardy.
Ontario is not a business, it’s our home!

Doug Ford is liquidating our irreplaceable natural resources, and stealing away citizen-led democratic institutions, such as our school boards. We need to stop it. The area MP, Stéphane Sarrazin, is letting this happen and is not advocating for his constituents.

This proposal under Bill 68 is deeply concerning because we will lose decades of local conservation knowledge, especially for rural regions that are much larger and have more diversity and therefore more specific local knowledge.

Who has the ultimate authority to approve these changes? The public apparently have the right to "comment" here, but will such comments actually be taken into account in the decision-making process?
