In Hamilton, homelessness is a crisis, housing availability is so low, rents remain high because of demand. This is one of the dumbest things. There were buildings there to begin with and the city wouldn't have closed them originally if they knew CP would pull this stunt. Lire davantage

Environment racism is what this is. Our council continues to put the poor in unsafe areas in order to keep them out of their own neighborhoods. The latest example is the recently opened tiny shelter project which sits pretty much on these same CN tracks surrounding by contaminates.

It is somewhat unfathomable that this site has been held up for highly required affordable housing. Given that the site was previously used for social housing, the residential use has been in existence for decades, coexisting with the nearby shunting yards without incident. Lire davantage

I live in the area and I grew up on James street, I knew many families who lived in the Jamesville community. With the housing crisis the way that it is, it would be a shame to leave these foundations not in use when they could be supporting single family households. Lire davantage

This rebuild has been stagnant for 10 years. Hamilton has an affordable housing crisis, homelessness crisis and this development is crucial. There is a whole community that is and has lived with CN rail in their backyard for decades. Lire davantage

The housing situation in Hamilton is very unaffordable and some estimates place the number of homeless people in the thousands. Please please please make designating a significant portion of these homes as affordable housing a condition of accepting this zoning proposal.

Please approve the city the ability to start building here ASAP. This is such under utilized piece of land next to critical regional transit, this is a win for all levels of government getting this approved.

It is fundamentally wrong that CN has the ability to stall this project. Last time I checked, cities are for people. People need housing. If the rail yard is a problem for the community, then IT NEEDS TO BE MOVED.

I work within an organization that deals substantially with the unhoused and underprivileged members of our city. I know a great many homeless people, who struggle to survive. Thriving is beyond those who (despite constantly applying) have not been able to find employment. Lire davantage
