Dear Environmental Registry of Ontario Team, Thank you for the opportunity to provide feedback on Bill 60. I appreciate the Province’s efforts to improve transportation and reduce delays, and I hope my comments can help support a balanced approach. Lire davantage

Doug needs to stay out of our cities. Let municipalities decide what they need. We don’t need his trump style populist policies. We want data and research driven decisions. He can drive his fat big truck in rural Ontario. In Toronto we need thoughtful planning of our road infrastructure. Lire davantage

Not all city progress looks like making cars move around faster. Vibrancy in a community and progress in a city looks like getting around in different ways, and providing different ways of access. Lire davantage

I am opposed to Bill 60 which would amend the Highway Traffic Act (HTA). If passed, it would mean that a small town in eastern Ontario could not change its roads to accommodate bicycles safely, even if its council voted in favour of it, even if its citizens wanted to make that change. There are many private motorized vehicles in cities and insufficient road capacity to efficiently move all these motorized vehicles. In other words, the road capacity is insufficient to meet the demands placed on it by motorized vehicles. Lire davantage

I wish to convey my strong opposition to this bill. We need to allow the municipalities of Ontario to maximize our efforts for alternative transportation to the automobile including cycling, transit and walking wherever possible. Lire davantage

1) Staff are not supportive of the proposed change, as municipalities should continue to make decisions regarding the allocation of road space and continue to balance local transportation needs, safety priorities and community objectives. Lire davantage

I am someone, like most people, who takes the most expedient, easy way to a destination. In Toronto that is most often by car, which I hate doing as it is stressful and expensive. Lire davantage

I use my car, my bicycle and public transportation. On my car I am more relaxed when bicycles are on their lane and I do not have to worry about keeping my distance from them. On my bicycle I feel safer knowing the cars will not enter the bicycle lane. Lire davantage

This is a gregarious misuse of provincial power at the expense of the people and for the profit of a small group. Lire davantage

Many people I meet in Toronto are shocked when I mention that I bicycle a lot. A good number say they stopped after a car hit them or one of their close friends. Lire davantage

This will be a disaster. Bike lanes not only save lives, they also reduce congestion.

In my opinion, the bike lanes actually help with traffic congestion and long commute times. Lire davantage

I cannot believe that the province is still planning to directly interfere with municipal planning decisions in regards to road usage. There's a reason why there are different levels of government in a democracy. Lire davantage

Point one: With an increasing number of commuters choosing to ride bicycles to and from work, why discourage that? Why discourage an activity that creates no emissions, and helps people to live healthy lives for longer while being less of a drain on our healthcare system? Lire davantage

Dear Premier Ford and Team, I live in Toronto and rely on my bike to get to the office. I was hit by a truck while riding here, and I know first-hand how exposed people on bikes are when streets are designed only for cars. Lire davantage

I am against Bill 60 which is an escalation of Bill 212’s attack on evidence based decision making that would prohibit any municipality in Ontario from reducing motor vehicle lanes to build new bike lanes. Lire davantage
