Passing this law will have an opposite and adverse effects on not just those who ride bikes/scooters, but the majority of people who commute by car, since blocking bike projects will not reduce traffic congestion in more dense centres like Toronto, but also make health of people worse. I do not believe the province is going to encourage better cities by taking away their options. Prohibiting development that impacts traffic is only going to make it harder to push positive changes. If municipalities over reach, citizens also have the option of voting in new representation. Lire davantage

Bill 60 should not be passed. It claims to be helping with traffic congestion by prohibiting car lane reduction as part of construction of new bike lanes. But this is flawed on many different levels. Lire davantage

This legislation is ill-conceived and should be rejected outright. The province should not be permitted to dictate to municipalities their management of their own roads. Lire davantage

This proposal goes against years of research and evidence in urban planning for safer cities. "Strong Towns" is an example of easily accessible literature that backs this assertion. Give it a read. Lire davantage

This is nonsensical legislation. There are very sensible times when lane reductions make sense for the addition of bike lanes. This is especially true because more people fit on the road with the bike lanes installed. Lire davantage

Please do not pass Bill 60. It is too broad in it's conception and will restrict many different improvements to the health of our city life. Cars are not the answer to every question. Sincerely, E Lire davantage

I deeply oppose Bill 60, especially prohibiting vehicle lane reduction for the construction of new bike lanes. This is short-sighted, bad for the environment and bad for congestion. Lire davantage

I understand the desire for common sense. But, don’t the people of Ontario deserve uncommonly good sense? Decades of city design have taught us that the only way to improve traffic in a large city is to provide real, viable alternatives. Lire davantage

Toronto is a vibrant and beautiful city, and I would want to see it thriving by becoming more modern. By modern I mean the city which is designed for people walking, cycling, enjoying their outdoor time. The cities are for people, not for vehicles. Lire davantage

The change is unnecessary and should be dropped altogether. The Minister does not need there wide powers claimed and a province-wide prohibition like this does not consider local needs or preferences. This prohibition would lead us to ever widening roads that hollow cities as they did in Detroit. Lire davantage

Multiple studies have shown that increasing car lanes do not reduce traffic or roadway congestion - they increase it. More infrastructure for cars means more cars on the road. It's being time for the province to listen to experts and invest in cycling and transit infrastructure. Lire davantage

I strongly oppose the proposal to remove municipal powers over local transportation infrastructure. This goes against the principle that local government is best placed to address local issues, and I can think of no good reason why routine road planning should require provincial approval.
